Al-Hamdulillaah, twenty-five years ago Al-Hikmat was founded and established by the Mercy and Guidance from Allaah. The Magazine became the voice of Muslims in Trinidad and Tobago. The President, Prime Minister and National Newspapers of the country communicated with Al-Hikmat on Islamic issues. Al-Hikmat started coordinating community services and interfaith activities with people of various cultural background. This brought International recognition to the Monthly Muslim Magazine. In 1991, a branch of Al-Hikmat was established in the USA, where Al-Hikmat again became the voice of Muslims and Islam in South Florida. Ten years before 9-11, Al-Hikmat pioneered dialogues and Interfaith activities with people of different cultural background. At that time there were certain individuals who condemned and criticized Al-Hikmat for publishing and getting involved with interfaith activities. These radicals and ignorant Muslims would go ballistic and crazy whenever they saw Jews and Christians in Al-Hikmat Magazine. They referred to Al-Hikmat as an “infidel publication” before 9-11. One Muslim told me that I have become a Kaafir/Infidel by associating with Jews and Interfaith activities. Al-Hikmat, however continued it’s struggle to serve the Muslim Community and Non-Muslim Community through the magazine, lectures, seminars, dialogues, etc, striving to establish tolerance and better understanding among different faiths and cultures. However, after 9-11, when the Muslim Community started facing attacks and backlash in America by the media and public, these radicals then realized the importance of community services and interfaith activities. By this time, Al-Hikmat was

ahead in the field with 25 years experience.

Fortunately and unfortunately, after

9-11, Al-Hikmat had to now struggle with those people who misunderstood Islam, due to Muslims misrepresenting Islam with their radical, ignorant and cultural teachings. Hence the reason why, Al-Hikmat is presently concentrating heavily in getting the Holy Qur’aan in the hands of Americans and Non-Muslims so they would better understand the true Islam taught and practiced by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), which would then make Muslims and Non-Muslims more understanding and tolerant of one another, Inshaa Allaah.
