Anger snatches away the wisdom of a person and thus causes one to act like a beast without any sense. Satan uses anger as a temptation to deceive others and oneself. Anger weakens the Imaan (faith) of a person and sometimes cause rage, displeasure, physical pain, temper, violence and injuries. The following is recommended for anger: narrated by Sulaiman Ibn Sard and reported by Bukhari - while Sulaiman was with the Prophet (S.A.W), two persons were blaming each other. The face of one became red and his jugular veins swelled. The Prophet (S.A.W) said, recite the following and the person with anger will cool down:
"AH OOZU BILLAAHI MINASHAI TAANIR RAJEEM" Meaning : I SEEK REFUGE IN ALLAH FROM SATAN THE OUTCAST."
Anger affects everyone, the wealthy, the poor, the young, the old, male and female. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) has taught us the way to control oneself when angry. To say ta’awuz ( seek refuge in God from satan), to make wudu (ablution), drink water, to sit if standing and to lay down if sitting.
Many people with weak characteristics suppress their anger when dealing with their superiors or people richer and more powerful than them, but they take advantage or revenge on those who are weaker or inferior . A weak person takes his anger / frustration out on his family. A weak woman will take her anger out on her children. The rich person will take his anger out by suffering the poor.
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah R.A., that the Messenger of Allaah (sal Allahu Alaihi wa sallam) said: "The strong man is not the one who wrestles others; rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself at times of anger."
